News Director
Blaze Radio ASU
I served as the News Director at Blaze Radio ASU from May 2022 to May 20. The club is the largest student-led organization next to Greek life, and it was named the #1 college radio station in the country in fall 2022 by the Princeton Review. My tasks as News Director included organizing weekly shows, scheduling reporters, finding coverage opportunities, training reporters to be on weekly shows, and communicating with the news department important updates, events, information, and instructions.

During my final year serving as News Director, I was able to travel to Austin, Texas, to cover the annual South by Southwest film festival. I interviewed numerous film directors, actors, producers and fans. I was able to see behind the scenes of numerous films and report on their creation. Here are a few of the interviews from that incredible experience.

teamwork
As News Director, I worked alongside a team of 8 other content directors to form the Director Board of Blaze Radio. I love working with my team and collaborating to get projects done. Running a station of over 400 members takes teamwork, communication, and hard work, and we all strove to be the best leaders we can be.

Organize news meetings
One of my tasks was to organize the first two meetings of each semester, which is attended by roughly 200 to 300 members. Meetings are the first opportunity for new members to meet the directors, for directors to announce department-wide updates, and for the community to meet up and grow closer.
department shows

I organized all four of the News Department's staple shows that air daily, including Press Pass and Traffic Jam. I even founded two new staple shows: This Sun Devil Life and Scorching Arizona. I organized the daily schedules for both programs and schedule the reporters that are air on every day. I write a weekly script and help decide which stories will air.

Election night

In October and November 2022, I had the privilege of organizing Blaze Radio's coverage of Election Night. We had nonstop coverage on November 8 from 3 PM to midnight. I organized the schedule of topics to be discussed throughout the night, assisted reporters in coverage, and organized catering.
In October, I communicated with Arizona PBS and the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication to organize interviews with electoral candidates and live coverage of the Arizona General Debates. Myself and a team of members interviewed politicians and wrote articles that were posted online. I was in charge of scheduling members and creating a budget for the week during and after Election Day.
